The light screen suddenly popped out. Su Heting’s sign for the lunatic’s location was a rat. His tracking was so precise that he had even narrowed the lunatic’s location right down to the building number. The timer counting down the seconds at the upper right corner ticked down. The lunatic instantly cut off the call.

“In view of his cunning nature, I’d suggest you limit the duration for arrest to twenty minutes. In these twenty seconds, I’ll broadcast the direction in which he is moving as it updates.” Su Heting looked at the time. “Let’s start.”

“Turn off the system monitoring.” Yan Junxun stood up and placed Jiang Lian’s communicator upside-down on the table. “We must catch him tonight. Or we will have trouble on our hands.”

Jiang Lian took back his own communicator and weighed up the pros and cons in just a matter of seconds. He stood up after Yan Junxun and quickly asked, “He can hack into our systems? All of them?”

“All of them.” Su Heting opened up a split-screen beside it and started to play a matching game. “Don’t let him slip away, or you won’t have such a good opportunity next time.”

Jiang Lian put on his jacket, pulled open the door, and shouted out, “Abort system monitoring!”

“No can do. You have to give my father a reason.” Jue said in Piao Lin’s communicator. “What’s going on?”

“It’s too late. Your father’s review and approval will take half an hour.” Su Heting did not look at the other end of the split-screen as he raised a hand and clicked. “Why not let me do it?”

The central light screen in the Inspection Bureau suddenly went black, while the sound of the system broadcast in the main hall came to a halt. Following right after, the lights in the basketball court on the outside, parking lot, and the surrounding stores all went out too. However, this was only the beginning. In just the blink of an eye, darkness had spread out from the Inspection Bureau like a jet of black ink blotting out the entire night in the Tingbo District.

“Warning!” The Inspection Bureau’s entrance screening system began to shriek. “Malicious intrusion escalating—”

“Ding dong.” Su Heting was still playing his game. “System Shutdown Achievement Unlocked.”

“Jue, Jue, are you still there?” Piao Lin attempted to call out to Jue in his ear, but it did not reply.

Sounds of doubts and consternation rang out all over Tingbo District. Drivers who were still stuck in traffic after getting off work suddenly found that the traffic lights had gone dark, while communicators in the midst of calls all encountered signal issues. Darkness engulfed the myriad people who were standing on the streets looking up at the buildings.

“Hello? Can you hear me?”

“What’s with the screen?!” The pretty woman in high-heel shoes asked her companion anxiously. “It disappeared all of a sudden.”

“Only 20 minutes.” Su Heting propped up his face with his hands. “I’ll power it on when time’s up.”

“You’ve gone too far!” Jiang Lian was thrown off-kilter by Su Heting’s action. “What’s wrong with you?!”

Yan Junxun turned sideways to move past between them. The hall was filled with noisy chatter. He did not look at anyone as he swiftly made his way to the entrance. The entrance screening system was still shrieking. He told Su Heting, “My car is in the parking lot.”

“The barrier has already been lowered.” The sound effects of Su Heting’s game were comical, and he was having a blast playing it. “I’d recommend you to let Shi Shanyan drive, for optimal results.”

Yan Junxun crossed over the parking lot railing and tossed the car keys to Shi Shanyan without hesitation.

“God of Racing.” Su Heting propped up one leg over the other. “Traffic is dense where the rat is. We are counting on you.”

Shi Shanyan caught the car keys. Before he entered the car, he spread both hands out to Yan Junxun. “Adjust the restraint locks’ range.”

The left and right clasps of the restraint locks clung close to both of Shi Shanyan’s wrists. The safe distance between both hands was currently 60cm. This was already a very dangerous distance, but Shi Shanyan wanted it to be extended even more.

Yan Junxun hesitated for only half a second before he tugged Shi Shanyan’s hands over. There was a sensor control on the restraint lock in the inner part of his wrist, with access privileges available only to Yan Junxun.

“You are free to move for 20 minutes.” Yan Junxun stared at Shi Shanyan. “It will revert to the original settings once time’s up. “

Shi Shanyan moved his wrists and obediently answered, “Okay.”
